Invalid XSL format (or) file name

Came across this error today when trying to output the results of a wmic query to a csv format file.

Invalid XSL format (or) file name

It turns out to be a ‘bug’ in Windows (thanks M$!) – Using a fully qualified path like below, resolved the issue for me.

wmic [OPTIONS] /Format:”%WINDIR%\System32\wbem\en-us\csv”
